Corporate startup collaborations are not always a walk in the park, especially for companies working on a multinational scale. There can be many challenges, but it all starts with finding the right startups to work with.
In this session learnings are shared from two different perspectives, Rune as an insider within Maersk and Erwin as an outsider working with multinationals like Shell, STC, Unilever, and Bouygues through Get in the Ring Challenges. We bring these views together with your own questions, challenges, and learnings.

Erwin is the co-founder of Get in the Ring and shareholder in several service & ict related companies. Erwin is an informal investor at De Investeerdersclub (DIC). DIC is a network of around 60 informal investors who personally invest smart-money in starting & growing companies. After investing for several years he wrote and published (by H&K) the book Handboek Informal Investment; De Kunst van het Investeren (The Handbook for Informal Investment: The Art of Investing), hoping to inspire others to start investing and to share his experiences with both investors & entrepreneurs.

In my research, I focus on the management of the development process of new products and services. Innovation management is key for a company’s performance. The process of creating ideas, selecting projects, developing products and commercializing them has to be well managed. Firms also have to excel in cross-organizational collaboration. By studying innovation in such firms as ASML, Philips and Unilever, my research group investigates the effects of organizational forms on systemic innovation, the effects of networks between people on idea generation and development, and the proper balance between freedom and control in innovation activities.
