Many industries are facing disruptive forces, of which energy is a notable example. Existing energy companies have the choice to either renew themselves or fail. Another choice, however, is the speed of renewal. This session is about how corporates can proactively renew themselves.During the session insights and cases from Eneco are discussed with the audience. An academic perspective is provided by Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship.
In my research, I focus on the management of the development process of new products and services. Innovation management is key for a company’s performance. The process of creating ideas, selecting projects, developing products and commercializing them has to be well managed. Firms also have to excel in cross-organizational collaboration. By studying innovation in such firms as ASML, Philips and Unilever, my research group investigates the effects of organizational forms on systemic innovation, the effects of networks between people on idea generation and development, and the proper balance between freedom and control in innovation activities.

Ferdinand Jaspers is Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) and Programme Director at Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship (ECE). He is also a visiting professor in the MBA programme at EMLYON Business School.
