In this session Ray Quintana (Cottonwood technology fund), Kees Eijkel (University of Twente), prof. Aard Groen (University of Twente & University of Groningen) will discuss with you how to build a regional ecosystem for high growth entrepreneurship. Based on their experience in Twente, New Mexico, Research triangle North Carolina and Groningen we will discuss how you can build a well balanced ecosystem and how a starting entrepreneur, existing SME’s and large companies can use this to get there!
Kees is Director Strategic Business Development at University of Twente. He has 20 years of experience in developing systems for commercialization of university research. He also had experience with some 20 individual business cases as well as the management of large publicly funded programs and organiations. He has published various technical papers and papers around commercialization of micro- and nanotechnology. Kees has a PhD in Technical Sciences from the University of Twente.

Erik Stam is full professor and head of the Strategy, Organization and Entrepreneurship chair at the Utrecht University School of Economics. He is also academic director of the Utrecht Center for Entrepreneurship.
Together with his colleagues at Utrecht University and globally he provides new insights into how entrepreneurship is affected by its (organizational, economic and societal) context, and how entrepreneurship subsequently affects these contexts.

Joep Brouwers has been active as an manager and a consultant in the field of technology and human behaviour since the mid-eighties. First as developer and project manager for new media applications for education, later on as director of a publishing house for magazines on the relation between the developed and the underdeveloped countries. Here he had his first internet experiences as one of the first database publishers in the Netherlands. In 1997 he entered the board of the Dutch branch of ISOC (Internet Society) where he took part in the uprise of the internet industries in the Netherlands and the burst of the internet bubble end 2000. From 2001 till 2007 he worked as a strategic policy advisor for the province of Noord- Brabant of innovation and economic development. In 2007 Arthur Tolsma co-founded Greetinq BV, where he experienced the ups and downs of the startup life. After winning a national TV-show in 2009 he was seen as a successful entrepreneur in the media, but four months later he was almost bankrupt and had to reorganize the company. He held on, and sold the company in 2012.
After his startup-period he became successful in sharing his insights in innovation and entrepreneurship; as coach for high-tech startups, setting up a business incubator, teaching at universities, and writing the book 'Startups & Downs' (January 2014, by publisher Communicatiereeks).
