How to use in-house startups to jump-start innovation within corporations

Freek Staps started as a reporter for NRC Handelsblad in 2001. He made the move to the US in 2005 as a NRC correspondent, which resulted in the book ‘Meer meer minder’. He later worked as acting (deputy) chief for, respectively, the Politics and Business Desks and co-founded business news startup NRC Q. He proceeded being the Managing Editor for Digital at NRC and is now the Content Director at Marqt, where’s he’s founding an online platform on food and sustainability. Freek received a Visiting Fellowship at Harvard to conduct research on cross-media innovation within large corporations for titles such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and Buzzfeed.

In 1993, Lieutenant Colonel Onno Sluiter joined the Royal Military Academy and started his training to become technical officer for the Royal Airforce. He has held several technical functions with the F-16 squadrons of the Airbase Leeuwarden and later also obtained a degree in political science from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. After working in a variety of operational roles, Onno Sluiter has also worked in a variety of policy- and international positions where he focused on international collaboration. At the moment he is the deputy head of the Airforce innovation centre AIR (=Ambition, Innovation, Result).
